The invitation extended to the President of Azerbaijan to join the Peace Council established in Davos at the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump as a founding member is a clear example of the high level of international trust placed in our country. The new geopolitical realities created by Azerbaijan in the region over the past five years and its growing activity in international politics are among the main reasons for this invitation.
Axar.az Political analyst Oktay Gasimov stated this in an interview while commenting on the establishment of the Peace Council in Davos and Azerbaijan’s participation in the platform.
The analyst emphasized that Azerbaijan’s participation in the Peace Council, particularly in the context of Gaza-related initiatives, will make a significant contribution to further strengthening the country’s international standing.
According to the expert, Azerbaijan’s multi-vector and balanced foreign policy, its acquired status as a mediator, as well as its geostrategic position and reputation as a predictable and reliable partner, make its participation in this platform both necessary and logical. He believes that participation in the Peace Council could bring Azerbaijan serious positive political and diplomatic dividends in the future.
The political analyst also noted that the participation of Azerbaijan’s closest friends and allies—Türkiye, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary—as founding members of the platform is of particular importance.
“This demonstrates that member states of the Organization of Turkic States and strategic partners share a common position on international issues and can be regarded as one of the steps toward the organization’s transformation into a unified force.
Participation in the Peace Council will further enhance Azerbaijan’s mediation and moderation experience gained to date and provide a strong boost to strengthening the country’s role in this field,” he added.
