Sweden embassy operates temporarily in Baku

Sweden has evacuated its diplomats from Iran, with the diplomatic mission temporarily continuing operations in Baku.

Axar.az informs Sweden’s Foreign Minister Mariya Malmer Stenergard wrote on X that, due to the deteriorating security situation in Iran, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to temporarily relocate embassy staff from Tehran.

She added that the embassy is now operating from Baku, while the security situation in Tehran remains highly uncertain. The ministry has advised against any travel to Iran since 2022 and is calling on Swedish citizens to leave the country.
