Azerbaijan and Micronesia establish diplomatic relations

Diplomatic relations have been established between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federated States of Micronesia.

Axar.az reports, according to Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries was signed in New York.

The document was signed by Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Tofig Musayev, and his Micronesian counterpart, Jim Lipwe.

The communiqué states that both countries express their intention to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between their states and peoples.

It also emphasizes that the governments of both countries, in establishing diplomatic relations, are guided by the UN Charter and universally accepted norms and principles of international law, particularly the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs.

The permanent representatives have also sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General requesting the distribution of the Joint Communiqué as an official UN document.
