A minute of silence will be observed before all of the first-round matches in the UEFA Champions League league phase to be played this week.

Axar.az reports, citing UEFA’s official website, that the decision was made as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the floods in Nepal.

In addition, the teams will walk onto the pitch carrying a banner with the message, “You are not alone Nepal.”

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: "The entire European football family will stand together before this week's matches to express our deepest condolences and our support to the people of Nepal. We wish them strength and resilience as they continue to recover from this tragedy and its aftermath."

It should be noted that the match between Sabah and Manchester United will also be played this week. The match will take place at Old Trafford Stadium on September 10 and will kick off at 23:00 Baku time.
