Azerbaijan, Thailand hold first consular consultations

On June 11, the first consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand were held in Baku.

Axar.az reports that the information was released by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department, while the Thai delegation was headed by Moongkorn Pratoomkaew, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs.

During the consultations, the parties reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the consular sphere between Azerbaijan and Thailand. They discussed expanding the bilateral legal and treaty framework, developing new mechanisms of cooperation, and strengthening the institutional foundations of interaction in relevant areas.

The sides also exchanged views on existing practices and best mechanisms for the evacuation of citizens and the provision of prompt consular assistance during crisis situations.

In addition, the participants discussed recent developments in the consular field, including both countries’ experiences and mechanisms in the digitalization of consular services.
