Azerbaijani FM: Patriotic War created new realities

The Azerbaijani people's 44-day Patriotic War created new realities and a new security framework in the region, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

Axar.az reports, citing APА, the minister said this security framework is based on the supremacy of international law.

"The historic developments that have taken place recently within the framework of the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the initialing of the draft peace agreement, create a unique opportunity to ensure lasting peace, security, and prosperity in the region," Bayramov said.

Bayramov noted that during the talks he informed his Russian counterpart about the reconstruction and restoration work being carried out in the liberated territories, the process of the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, as well as the current state of the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"It can be stated with confidence that there is de facto peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan today," he added.
