Azerbaijan, Russia discuss climate cooperation

On July 23, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Ruslan Edelgeriyev, presidential aide and Special Representative of the Russian President for Climate and Water Resources.

Axar.az reports that the meeting focused on Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation on climate action, COP matters, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the Russian presidential aide on Azerbaijan’s experience and the outcomes achieved during the COP29 Conference.

The officials also reviewed bilateral cooperation related to the Caspian Sea. In this regard, they stressed the importance of accelerating the work of the joint working group on Caspian Sea issues.

They also highlighted the importance of preserving the Caspian Sea's water resources and its unique ecosystem, stressing the need to apply innovative technologies, including in agriculture, and to carry out joint projects in this area.
