The situation in the South Caucasus remains difficult due to Western attempts to increase its influence.

Axar.az reports that Andrey Serdyukov, the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, made this statement.

“Particularly concerning are the high levels of tensions related to unresolved territorial issues and the West’s desire to expand its influence in the South Caucasus,” Serdyukov stated.

According to him, risks and threats remain relevant in Central Asia, linked to international terrorism, extremism, and the illegal trafficking of weapons, drugs, and psychotropic substances:

“In the near future, the geopolitical situation in the world will remain unstable. The West's attempts to maintain its dominance and create new escalation centers worldwide will have a complex and provocative nature.”
