Unfortunately, the Armenian side is once again trying to divert public opinion from the real situation.

Axar.az reports that the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, said this in response to the questions of the local media about the views of the Armenian Foreign Minister on the "peace agreement" and communications.

He said that the Armenian side sent its comments on the draft agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, last submitted by Azerbaijan in June, at the end of August, approximately 70 days later.

"Instead of adequately reacting to the comments presented by Azerbaijan, the Armenian side tried to ignore the problems by removing provisions that are necessary to be reflected in the project. Although many provisions of the project have been agreed so far, i.e. approximately 80%, some provisions have not yet been agreed upon. However, this does not mean that the agreement should be signed by removing the non-agreed provisions from the draft, as suggested by the Armenian side. This cannot be considered acceptable. Because, for the peace agreement to be sustainable and successful, the problematic issues between the two countries in several directions should be clarified in the project.

Armenia, which continues its territorial claims against Azerbaijan and is trying to restore the work of the Minsk Group, which is a remnant of the past conflict, reduces the scope of the text of the "peace agreement" and calls to sign it in every form, raising many questions about the true intentions of this country.

To sign the draft agreement, Armenia should first of all make appropriate changes to its Constitution, which currently refers to territorial claims against our country.

Although Armenia knows that there are written and signed obligations regarding the opening of communications connecting the western regions of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, it has not fulfilled them in the last 4 years. Regarding the opinions about the involvement of a foreign private company in the process in the territory of both countries, let us note that Azerbaijan has never discussed the participation of a third party in the process in its territory. "If the Armenian side is interested in opening communications in the region, it should fulfill its obligations," the MFA official stressed.

It should be noted that on September 9, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan said at a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Luxembourg that the text of the draft "peace agreement" presented by Armenia to Azerbaijan was fully agreed and the draft contains the agreed provisions. At the same time, he noted that the Armenian side does not intend to hand over the control of any road passing through its territory to a third party. In addition, it was brought to attention that the issue of involving a foreign private company in the process was discussed in both countries to ensure the safe movement of cargo and passengers.
