Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, who is on a business trip to Geneva, Switzerland, met with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye Numan Gurtulmush.

Axar.az reports that according to the information provided by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis, Numan Gurtulmus, who congratulated Sahiba Gafarova on the occasion of the successful holding of the extraordinary parliamentary elections and re-election of the Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, expressed his satisfaction with the successful development of fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye.

Stating that the countries have shown a common position on all issues, the Speaker of the National Assembly said that after the 44-day Patriotic War, new conditions have emerged in the region, in this regard, the major construction works carried out in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, the opening of the Zangezur Corridor, will create great opportunities for the Turkic world and Turkic-speaking countries.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova expressed her gratitude for the congratulations and noted that after her re-election to this position, the Speaker of the National Assembly was the first to congratulate her. He expressed his gratitude for the observation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly with the largest delegation during the elections.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that our relations between the brotherly countries, which have been on a great path of development based on the motto of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, "One nation, two states", have risen to the highest level today thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the heads of state. It was noted that our fraternal countries take a common position on all issues, including supporting each other in international organizations.

At the meeting, it was emphasized thate the existing high-level cooperation relations between the two countries are being developed at the level of parliaments and that the activities in this direction will be continuous in the coming periods. The important contributions of the contacts between the Speakers of the Parliament, friendship groups and MPs to the general relations were appreciated. The importance of the meetings held in the tripartite format at the level of the parliaments was also emphasized.

During the conversation, it was stated that both countries were speaking with the agenda of peace and cooperation in the region.

At the meeting, the importance of joint activity of parliaments in multilateral platforms related to climate change was also noted.

During the conversation, opinions were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
