The visit of Nikol Pashinyan to the United States did not provide him with an answer to the question of what Washington's policy toward Yerevan will be.

Axar.az reports that this opinion was expressed by political scientist Suren Sargsyan, director of the Armenian Center for American Studies, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia, commenting on the almost 7-day trip of the Armenian Prime Minister to America.

According to Sargsyan, there might have been some positive expectations in the Armenian information-political sphere, given the new team in the White House and the strategic cooperation document signed in January:

"However, only the Vice President met with Pashinyan among official figures. At the same time, the position of Vice President is not as influential in the political hierarchy, and he certainly does not have prerogatives in foreign policy matters. Moreover, the meeting likely lasted only 5-7 minutes and was purely introductory in nature, according to the expert. It is clear that serious geopolitical issues could not have been discussed at such a meeting.

The Armenian Prime Minister did not meet with any decision-makers. He did not meet with President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, the Defense Secretary, or the President's National Security Advisor. These are the officials who determine the contours of U.S. foreign policy. In the end, for Pashinyan, the question remains open as to what Trump's foreign policy toward Armenia will be.

It is also unclear whether the new administration in Washington will continue to provide the same political support to the Armenian authorities as was given under Biden."

It should be noted that Pashinyan, along with his wife, left for the U.S. on February 1. Pashinyan participated in the International Religious Freedom Summit and the National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, as well as met with the Armenian community at the U.S. Embassy and gave a speech at the Atlantic Council. A day before his return, he was received by Vice President James David Vance.
