Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov, met with the delegation led by Saja Farooq Abdullah, the UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov noted that the Azerbaijani state always pays special attention to ensuring the safety of children, their protection, and their living and growing up in a safe environment, and is taking important steps in this area.
In this context, the Minister, speaking about the activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan in preventing natural and man-made emergencies in country, eliminating their consequences, and ensuring the safety of the population, especially vulnerable groups, including children, drew attention to the successful cooperation with relevant international organizations in this area. In this regard, he recalled that close relations have been formed between the Ministry and the UNICEF Representative Office in Azerbaijan, and a number of joint projects have been successfully implemented over the past years.
Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov provided the guests with detailed information on the work and measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the field of child safety and emphasized that there is great potential for expanding relations with the UNICEF Representative Office in Azerbaijan in this area.
The Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Azerbaijan, Saja Farooq Abdullah, thanked for the meeting and emphasized that the COP29, a globally significant event hosted by Azerbaijan in November last year, was successfully hosted in Azerbaijan.
Ms. Saja Farooq Abdullah provided detailed information about the activities of the office she leads and noted the importance of further expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the field of child safety in country.
Issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
