The Azerbaijani President's Special Representative Khalaf Khalafov paid a working visit to the Russian capital, Moscow, on April 9.

It was reported that within the framework of the visit, Kh. Khalafov held meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Assistant to the President of this country Yuri Ushakov, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Grigory Karasin, Deputy Foreign Ministers Mikhail Galuzin and Andrey Rudenko.
The agenda of Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the institutional development of CICA and its transformation into an international organization, as well as a plan for mutual activities, were discussed at the meetings. The constructive dialogue between the two countries at various levels was also highly appreciated. The importance of continuing measures aimed at developing Azerbaijani-Russian relations, including interparliamentary contacts, was noted. It was emphasized that the “Declaration on Allied Mutual Activities between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation”, signed on February 22, 2022, created a solid foundation for long-term cooperation. In this context, the current state of bilateral relations was reviewed. At the same time, the importance of continuing joint efforts to strengthen lasting stability and security in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region was noted.
The meetings took place in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere.
