On April 17, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Ahmed Metani, the newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Metani presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Bayramov, and Mr. Bayramov congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.
The meeting covered bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Palestine, regional peace and reconstruction efforts in the post-conflict period, and the security situation in the Middle East, especially in Gaza.
The sides highlighted the development of Azerbaijan-Palestine cooperation, particularly in political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields, and discussed opportunities to expand partnership within international organizations such as the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Both parties emphasized the importance of maintaining a ceasefire in Gaza and addressing humanitarian issues. Azerbaijan reiterated its support for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, under the two-state principle.
Azerbaijan’s support in improving the humanitarian situation for the Palestinian people affected by conflict was acknowledged with appreciation during the meeting between Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and newly appointed Palestinian Ambassador Ahmed Metani.
Minister Bayramov shared detailed information about the current regional realities following past conflicts, including large-scale reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, demining activities, and progress in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
Ambassador Metani expressed gratitude for the reception, stating that his appointment as Palestine’s ambassador to Azerbaijan is a great honor. He emphasized his commitment to further strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The meeting also included discussions on other issues of mutual interest.
