As part of her working visit to the Russian Federation, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, spoke at the solemn meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism in 1941-1945 on April 18.

Axar.az reports that the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, who specially noted the great role of the Azerbaijani people in the historic Victory over fascism, drew attention to the fact that our people sent more than 600 thousand sons and daughters to the front. More than 300 thousand of them died in battles. For their courage in this terrible war, more than 130 Azerbaijanis were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
