President of the Republic of Angola João Lorenzo called President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on May 8.

Axar.az reports that during the telephone conversation, the heads of state exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Angola, especially in the economic, trade, and humanitarian spheres.

Joao Lorenzo noted the visit to Baku of the Vice President of Angola, Esperanza Costa, who visited our country to participate in COP29, and the meetings she held with her Azerbaijani counterparts on the development of bilateral relations within the framework of the visit.

President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the development of relations with African countries, including Angola, and said that there are broad opportunities for the development of our cooperation in various fields.

During the conversation, it was recalled that students from Angola studied in our country during the former USSR, and it was noted with satisfaction that these individuals have made their contribution to the development of Angola today.

Considering that Angola currently holds the presidency of the African Union, the parties touched upon issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the African Union.
