Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said If nuclear weapons are deployed in Lithuania and aimed at Russia, the territory of that country will be targeted by Russian nuclear weapons.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Peskov made the remarks in an interview while commenting on Lithuania’s readiness to remove from its Constitution a provision banning the deployment of nuclear weapons.

“This could have been predicted. It would be a very serious escalation in terms of rising tensions, because if you deploy nuclear weapons on your territory, they are aimed at someone. Obviously, these weapons will not be aimed to the west. They will be aimed to the east, that is, at us,” he said.

“If nuclear weapons aimed at us are deployed on its territory, accordingly, the territory of that country will also be under the sights of our nuclear weapons,” the Kremlin spokesman added.
