President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, expressed his satisfaction with the statement made by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the international forum "Towards a New World Order" held at ADA University.
Axar.az reports that this information was published on the official website of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
"The statement of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has made us extremely satisfied. I would like to thank President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the strong support he has shown to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
We are pleased that our relations with Azerbaijan, as an inseparable part of our unity of hearts, common values, and the further development of our relations, are developing as an inseparable part of the same nation.
I would like to thank President Ilham Aliyev once again for this statement, and I wish our brotherhood and cooperation to be eternal," A. Tatar noted.
It should be noted that President Ilham Aliyev touched upon the issue of Northern Cyprus during his speech at the international forum "Towards a New World Order" held at ADA University.
"Azerbaijan played an active role in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, receiving observer status in the Organization of Turkic States. We are among the countries that actively defend this issue. The President was invited to the informal Summit of the Tatar organization in Shusha and participated there. The flag of Northern Cyprus was also flying there," the head of state said.
Recalling that when the UN Secretary-General announced a referendum, Turkish Cyprus voted for unification, while representatives of Greek Cyprus voted against it, the President noted:
"Look, what happened? Greek Cyprus was admitted to the European Union. Is this fair? In other words, this was a clear example of double standards, and politicians do not want to talk about it. In other words, they do not want to worry about it, and if they talk about it, they may have problems other than headaches. Therefore, I want to assure our brothers in Northern Cyprus that we will always be with you so that your country is established as an independent state and recognized by the international community."
