Iran says indirect nuclear talks with focus on sanctions

Iran confirmed that upcoming nuclear talks with the U.S., set for April 19, will remain indirect and focus solely on the nuclear program and lifting of sanctions, with Oman continuing as the mediator.

Axar.az reports that the latest meeting in Muscat marked the highest-level contact since the collapse of the 2015 nuclear deal, although both sides remained in separate rooms for most of the discussions.

Despite pressure to broaden the agenda to include missiles and regional militancy, Iran refuses to discuss anything beyond the nuclear issue.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump called the talks “okay” but emphasized that results matter more than process. The talks follow a letter from Trump to Iran’s Supreme Leader warning of military action if Iran refuses to engage. Iranian media described the talks as a potential “turning point” in U.S.-Iran relations, despite skepticism from some conservative outlets.
