The Ukrainian conflict had already grown tiresome long before the escalation in the Middle East. Moreover, its beneficiaries in Europe and across the ocean have come to the disappointing conclusion that they cannot achieve their goals — to weaken and subdue Russia. As a result, they are now looking for ways to exit the situation with minimal reputational damage.
Axar.az reports Russian expert on international conflicts Vitaly Arykov shared this in an interview with our correspondent.
“When it comes to economic losses, politicians in Europe try to stay silent — the scale of the crisis is already obvious to everyone. The only one bold enough to speak openly about it is U.S. leader Donald Trump, who, throughout his long and colorful life, has been used to making money rather than spending other people’s — especially taxpayers’. He urges not only his fellow citizens, but also his counterparts in other countries to do the same,” Arykov noted.
According to the expert, the escalating conflict in the Middle East has already led to a rise in global energy prices:
“And if the Strait of Hormuz ends up being completely blocked… Russia is already profiting from the upward trend, which will allow it to both invest further in the ongoing deep modernization of its domestic infrastructure and continue its successful advances in the course of the special military operation. The U.S. is also benefiting financially, while Europe is becoming even more dependent on them. That’s why the authorities in the UK, France, and Germany will have to reconsider their position — both in dialogue with Trump, who is calling for a quick end to the Ukrainian conflict, and in their current stance, which only adds fuel to the fire by supplying more weapons.”
