Putin blames Ukrainian drones for the AZAL tragedy

Putin linked the AZAL plane crash in part to the presence of a Ukrainian drone in the air.

Axar.az informs, citing TASS, he said that on the day of the tragedy, Russia was tracking three Ukrainian drones that had crossed its border.

According to Putin, two missiles launched by Russia’s air defense system did not directly hit the AZAL aircraft but exploded a few meters away.

He added that the plane’s crew had been offered to land in Makhachkala but chose to proceed to their home airport instead.
