Araghchi, Lavrov hold talks on Iran–US memorandum

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation to discuss the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, as well as regional and bilateral issues.

Axar.az reports that, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Araghchi briefed Lavrov on the details of the memorandum and stressed the importance of the United States ensuring full implementation of its provisions. He also called for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks against Lebanon.

Lavrov welcomed the finalization of the memorandum text and reaffirmed Russia’s support for its implementation.

Both sides emphasized the need for support from the international community and the UN Security Council for the agreement, and highlighted the importance of continued regional diplomatic cooperation to strengthen peace and stability.

The ministers also exchanged views on bilateral relations and agreed to continue consultations on the issues discussed.
