Azerbaijan finishes European Championships with five medals

Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestling team finished the U20 European Championships in Skopje, North Macedonia, with a total of five medals.

Axar.az reports the team added two more medals on the third day of competition. Aykhan Javadov (60kg) defeated Romania's Dragos Draghia 6-1, while Elmin Aliyev (82kg) cruised past Hungary's Szabolcs Szina 8-0 to claim bronze medals.

Roman Karimov (67kg) dominated his repechage matches, beating Lithuania's Eimantas Andriuska 9-0 and Moldova's Maxim Damashin 10-0. However, he fell 6-2 to Russia's Amir Sovmiz in the bronze-medal bout and finished fifth.

Azerbaijan concluded the continental championships with one gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Earlier in the tournament, Emin Javadli (55kg) won gold, while Cavidan Nehmatov (77kg) and Orkhan Hajiyev (87kg) secured silver medals.
