Series of earthquakes hit Shamakhı district

On February 28, an earthquake was recorded in the Shamakhi district, 23 km southwest of the Pirgulu station.

Axar.az reports that the Republican Seismological Service Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences released the information.

It was stated that the tremor, with a magnitude of 3.8, was recorded at 06:34 local time.

The depth of the earthquake was 13 kilometers, and it was felt up to 3 points in settlements near the epicenter.

It should be noted that additional tremors were recorded in the district during the night. An earthquake with a magnitude of 3 occurred at 00:36 local time but was not felt. Later, two earthquakes measuring 3.6 in magnitude occurred at 02:01 and 03:38 local time. Both tremors were recorded 23 km southwest of the Pirgulu station and were felt up to 3 points in nearby settlements.

Another earthquake struck Shamakhi in the morning.

The Republican Seismological Service Center reported that the tremor was recorded at 08:31 local time, 23 km southwest of the Pirgulu station in the Shamakhi district.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 3, was not felt.
