Azerbaijan suspends cargo traffic at Iran border

Azerbaijan`s Cabinet of Ministers announced the suspension of cargo truck traffic at the Azerbaijan-Iran border.

Axar.az informs that on March 5, attacks were carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, targeting civilian infrastructure in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Iranian side targeted the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic’s International Airport, a school, and other areas. These attacks resulted in injuries to several civilians and caused damage to the airport’s terminal building.

Taking into account the current situation resulting from these attacks, which violate the norms and principles of international law, the Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a decision to temporarily and fully halt the movement of cargo trucks, including those moving for transit purposes, at all border checkpoints along the Azerbaijan-Iran state border.
