Bayramov: TRIPP project is important for the region

The TRIPP project is of great importance to the region.

Axar.az informs, citing Repоrt, that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made the remarks during a briefing in Baku with Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

According to the minister, several developments are expected in the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the TRIPP project-included in the Washington Peace Summit document-being one of them.

"This project is very important for the region. Azerbaijan regularly receives updates from the United States on the progress of the process. We expect physical construction work to begin on the 42-kilometer section in 2026. The Azerbaijani state is promptly fulfilling all of its obligations," Bayramov said.

The minister noted that Nakhchivan has around 180 kilometers of railway tracks that have been out of operation for the past 30 years.

"Additional investment is also needed there, and work has already begun," he added.

Bayramov said these developments are expected to bring significant benefits to the region.

"The transportation of petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia is already underway. At the next stage, we believe trade can expand. Over the past year, around 60,000 tonnes of cargo and 20,000 tonnes of petroleum products have been transported from Azerbaijan to Armenia," the foreign minister said.
