The closing ceremony of the 42nd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships has been held in Frankfurt.

Axar.az reports that, according to the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, the World Championships flag was handed over by the German delegation to World Gymnastics, which then presented it to the Azerbaijani delegation, the host of the next World Championships.

The symbolic handover marked Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 43rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, which will take place in Baku from September 15–19, 2027.

Both this year’s World Championships and the 2027 event in Baku serve as qualification events for the Olympic Games. More gymnasts will have the opportunity to earn Olympic qualification spots in the individual and group events at the Baku championships, making the competition an important stage in the Olympic qualification process.

Thus, Azerbaijan will be in the spotlight of the global gymnastics community both as the host of the World Championships and as the venue for an important Olympic qualification event.
