On September 9, the foreign-flagged cargo vessel TEDY, which had Azerbaijani citizens among its crew, came under drone attacks in the Black Sea.
Axar.az reports that, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijani citizens Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov were killed in the attack, while Imran Novruzov and Rauf Aliyev were injured.
The injured sailors have been hospitalized in the city of Chornomorsk, Ukraine.
“The Foreign Ministry is currently coordinating the matter with Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions, as well as the relevant authorities of the countries concerned. Following the medical examination and treatment of our injured citizens, measures are being taken to arrange their return to Azerbaijan and provide the necessary consular assistance, as well as to handle the procedures concerning the deceased.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.
We once again urge Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from traveling to regions where military operations are ongoing or the security situation is unstable, from working in such areas, and from working on means of transport, including vessels, operating along these routes,” the statement said.
