A farewell ceremony is held for Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh

A farewell ceremony is held for the first vice-president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), oilman-scientist, geologist, and academician Khoshbakht Baghi oglu Yusifzadeh.

Axar.az reports that the ceremony was organized in the building of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

The ceremony is attended by SOCAR officials and well-known representatives of the energy sector.

Kh. Yusifzade I will be buried in the Alley of Honor. He died yesterday at the age of 93.

Kh. Yusifzadeh was born on January 14, 1930, in Pirshagi village of Baku. In 1952, he graduated from the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute and received the qualification of mountain engineer-geologist. In the same year, he started working at the "State-specific oil project" department of the Ministry of Oil Industry of the USSR in Baku, then at "Denizneft" Union, "Gurganneft" trust (now "Neft Dashlari" NGCI), "Bashdenizneft" Department, "Khazardenizneft" Union, "Azerineft" State Concern and worked in various positions at the State Oil Company. In 2004, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kh. Yusifzadeh was appointed the first vice-president of SOCAR for geology, geophysics and field development, and since 2016, the first vice-president of SOCAR. With his direct participation and leadership, more than 20 oil and gas fields, including the world-famous "Azeri", "Chirag" and "Guneshli" fields, were discovered and put into operation in the sectors of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Russia of the Caspian Sea basin. The famous oil scientist-scientist participated in almost all the works carried out jointly with foreign companies, including the development of the "Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli" (deep sea) fields, the "Ashrafi", "Karabagh", the giant "Shahdeniz" gas-condensate, "Kepaz" ", "Bahar", and the large "Absheron" fields, as well as the discovery of the "Umid" field, which SOCAR opened with its own power in 2010, played an irreplaceable role.

He was awarded two "Red Flags of Labor" and "Badge of Honor" orders of the USSR, twice the State award. During the years of independence, his work was awarded the "Independence", "Fame", "Honor" and 1st class "Labour", "Heydar Aliyev" orders, as well as the Heydar Aliyev Award, as well as the "Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan".

A famous scientist and an outstanding industrial organizer, he is also the author of more than 200 research papers, including 18 monographs and 8 inventions.

It should be recalled that in accordance with the Decree signed by the head of our state on January 15, 2020, on additional measures in connection with the 90th anniversary of Kh. B. Yusifzade, the new ship of "Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping" CJSC, as well as number 112 in Pirshagi settlement of Sabunchu district, Baku city the full secondary school was named after the academician. On September 20, 2021, the "Akademik Khoshbakht Yusifzade" oil tanker, built at "Baku Shipyard" LLC and named after the living legend of the oil industry, was launched.
