Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations have entered a qualitatively new stage.

Axar.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev said this on August 5 when accepting the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Kasim Mohiuddin.

Recalling his state visit to Pakistan with pleasure, the President of Azerbaijan said that the hospitality shown to him and the delegation had a very pleasant effect, and emphasized once again that it demonstrates the friendship, brotherhood and partnership between our countries and peoples.

Touching on the importance of this visit, the head of state recalled with pleasure that issues covering wide areas of our cooperation were discussed and documents were signed. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that as a result of this state visit, Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations entered a qualitatively new stage, and new directions of cooperation in various fields, including investment and energy, were determined within the framework of the visit.

The President said that both sides are working towards the implementation of the decisions, reached agreements and signed documents during the state visit to Pakistan. The President of Azerbaijan noted the importance of the preferential trade agreement and drew attention to the fact that relevant institutions are working on adding new articles to this document.

President Ilham Aliyev appreciated the fact that Pakistan did not establish diplomatic relations with Armenia due to the occupation of our territories, even after the liberation of our lands and full restoration of our sovereignty, as a manifestation of true friendship and brotherhood. The head of state once again emphasized that the political support shown by the Pakistani leadership to Azerbaijan during the Patriotic War is of great importance for us.
