Today is the Day of Remembrance of our heroic martyrs who lost their lives in the Patriotic War, which was started in order to prevent military provocations and combat activity of Armenia against Azerbaijan, and to ensure the safety of the civilian population.

Axar.az reports that September 27 is celebrated as Memorial Day in Azerbaijan for the fourth year.

In connection with the Memorial Day, the central and local executive power structures will organize a number of events across the country, as well as commemoration ceremonies will be held outside our country.

As in previous years, this year also on Memorial Day, our martyrs will be commemorated with deep respect in religious temples - mosques, churches, and synagogues operating in Azerbaijan, and prayers will be recited to the souls of the children of the Motherland who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

At 12:00, the dear memory of the martyrs will be commemorated with a minute of silence.

Thus, today in Azerbaijan, the heroes of the Patriotic War will be remembered with gratitude, and great respect will be shown to the souls of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country.

According to President Ilham Aliyev's Decree of December 2, 2020, September 27 is celebrated as Memorial Day in Azerbaijan every year as a sign of deep respect for our soldiers and officers who fought heroically in the Patriotic War and sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, as well as all our martyrs.

On September 27, 2020, the brave Azerbaijan Army under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, launched counter-offensive operations along the entire front in order to prevent military provocations and combat activity of the Armenian armed forces and ensure the safety of the civilian population. The 44-day Patriotic War ended with Azerbaijan's victory both on the battlefield and at the political table. All this was achieved at the cost of the blood of 2,908 martyrs of the Azerbaijan Army.

On September 19, 2023, the provisions of the tripartite declaration by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the prevention of large-scale provocations committed in the Karabakh economic region, the disarmament and withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the territories of Azerbaijan, the neutralization of their military infrastructure, and the return of civilians to the liberated territories , as well as local anti-terrorist measures were started in order to ensure the safety of civilian workers and military personnel involved in the restoration and construction works and to restore the constitutional structure of the country.

As a result of the anti-terrorist measures implemented in less than 24 hours, the Armenian army illegally stationed in the territory of Azerbaijan was completely disarmed and left the country. The illegal junta regime was abolished in Karabakh, as a result of the measures implemented by the Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies, the main leaders of the separatists were arrested.

192 soldiers of the Azerbaijan Army rose to the peak of martyrdom during anti-terrorist measures.

Thus, as a result of the Patriotic War and anti-terrorist measures, the ancient and eternal lands of Azerbaijan, which were under Armenian occupation for many years, were liberated. Thus, state sovereignty and the constitutional structure were restored in all territories of Azerbaijan. Currently, restoration and reconstruction works are being carried out in the liberated territories, as well as the return of people to their homelands.
