Marat Karabayev, Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, spoke about the accident of the Embraer 190 plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines No. J2-8243, which was carrying out the Baku-Grozny flight.
Axar.az reports that "Kazinform" published information about this.
"Airport emergency services were ready to receive the plane. After entering the airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the crew contacted the controller of the tower in the city of Aktau," said the head of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
Karabayev added that the dispatcher quickly took all necessary measures to ensure the landing of the plane at the airport.
The Minister of Transport emphasized that the lights of the runway were turned on to facilitate the establishment of visual contact with the runway.
The minister said that the crew made two attempts to approach the runways of the Aktau airfield - chaotic changes in the height of the ship were observed - it went towards the coastline.
According to Karabayev, communication with the crew was lost at 11:28 local time and the plane "collided with the ground".
The head of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan noted that the rescue service of the Aktau airport immediately went to the scene and was the first to arrive at the accident site, after which they promptly began to evacuate the passengers of the plane.
