After the crash, Russia and Kazakhstan proposed that the incident be investigated by the Interstate Aviation Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), (The Interstate Aviation Committee was established in December 1991 based on an interstate agreement on civil aviation and airspace use among 12 newly independent states).
Axar.az reports that citing APА, Azerbaijan has rejected this proposal.
Official Baku demands that the investigation be conducted by a group of international experts and specialists from Embraer.
Azerbaijan believes that the reading of the "black boxes" should also be carried out by this group.
On December 25, an AZAL aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny flight was shot down by Russia's air defense systems over the skies of Grozny and sustained serious damage. Since permission for landing was not granted, the aircraft headed towards Aktau but crashed near Aktau Airport. As a result of the crash, 38 out of 67 people on board were killed, and 29 people survived.
