Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Vahid Jalal Zadeh and other state officials visited the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iran and expressed their condolences.

Axar.az reports that the embassy noted this on X account.

It was noted that they expressed condolences from the Iranian government and people regarding the loss of lives in the plane crash, and wrote their heartfelt words in the book.

On December 25, an AZAL aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny flight was hit by Russia's air defense systems over Grozny's airspace, sustaining significant damage. As the plane was not permitted to land, it diverted towards Aktau, where it crashed near Aktau Airport. As a result of the crash, 38 out of the 67 people on board lost their lives, and 29 survived.
