A court in Kazakhstan has sentenced blogger Azamat Sarsenbayev to ten days of administrative detention for filming at the crash site of the AZAL aircraft in Aktau.

Axar.az reports that this information was provided by the blogger’s lawyer, Aybek Suyundukov.

According to the lawyer, Sarsenbayev's detention was based on "failure to comply with the lawful demand of a representative of the authorities" (Article 667, Part 1 of Kazakhstan's Administrative Offenses Code).

The police stated that the blogger was detained for disturbing public order. An official statement indicated that he flew a drone over the crash site, obstructing the work of the rescue services and investigative measures, and did not comply with the lawful orders of the police officers.

It should be noted that on December 25, the AZAL aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny flight was hit by Russian air defense systems over Grozny. Since it was not allowed to land there, the plane diverted to Aktau. The damaged aircraft crashed near Aktau Airport.

Sarsenbayev was detained on December 25. The blogger himself reported this, emphasizing that his footage was broadcast by major international media outlets.
