The Kremlin has seen statements from Baku calling for an apology from Russia regarding the shooting down of an Azerbaijani plane by Russian air defense forces. However, the Kremlin has stated that it will not comment on the situation until the investigation into the crash is complete.

Axar.az reports that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made this remark in response to a question about whether the Kremlin had seen the statement by Azerbaijani MP Rasim Musabayov.

"Of course, we saw it, but once again, I repeat, I have nothing to add to what I have already said. An investigation into this aviation incident is underway, and until conclusions are drawn, we do not consider it appropriate to make any assessments. Only our aviation authorities have the necessary information, and they are the ones who can provide it," he stated.

To recall, on December 25, an AZAL plane on the Baku-Grozny route was struck by Russian air defense systems over Grozny, causing severe damage. Denied permission to land, the plane diverted to Aktau but crashed near Aktau Airport. The crash resulted in 38 fatalities among the 67 people on board, while 29 survived.

To date, Russia has neither apologized to Azerbaijan nor held those responsible for denying the plane permission to land accountable.
