Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the issue of withdrawing the Russian military base from Armenia was not discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Pashinyan made the remark at a briefing.

“As for the military base, there was no such discussion. We have never raised the issue of the 102nd Russian military base during this period. At the same time, we do not consider the presence of the Russian base in Armenia a vital necessity,” he said.

According to him, if Russia decides to withdraw the base from Armenian territory, Yerevan will not object. However, if the Russian side wishes to keep it, Armenia is ready to discuss the issue as well.

It should be noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously said that Russia could withdraw its military base in Gyumri “as soon as tomorrow” if Armenia wanted it to.
