Today, Azerbaijan celebrates Earth Tuesday, also known as the Last Charshanba, one of the four festive Tuesdays leading up to the Novruz holiday.
Axar.az reports that before Novruz, four Charshanbas, which are symbols of its fertility, are celebrated - Water, Fire, Wind, and the Last Charshanba - Earth Charshanba. Earth Wednesday is related to the concept of resurrection and revival, as it has mythical roots in the awakening of the earth.
On the Last Wednesday, a festive table is laid, a bonfire is lit, pilaf is brewed, and samani and khoncha are decorated. The Last Charshanba has many customs and traditions, such as closing the door, lighting candles, celebrating, fortune telling, and so on. On the Last Charshanba candles are not extinguished halfway, candles are lit according to the number of family members, and fire, matches, oil, whitewash, flour, and bread are not given from the house.
It should be noted that this year, spring will enter Azerbaijan at 1:01 p.m. on March 20. On March 20-21, Azerbaijan celebrates the Novruz holiday.
