President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of a mosque in the Sugovushan village of the Agdara district on March 18.
Axar.az reports that the first floor of the mosque, where about 100 people can worship at the same time, is intended for men, and the second floor is for women. The courtyard of the mosque has also been greened. Special decorative elements have been used inside the place of worship.
It should be noted that President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the groundbreaking ceremony of this place of worship in March 2022.
The conditions created in this mosque once again confirm that the protection and development of our national and spiritual values are always the focus of the attention of President Ilham Aliyev. Based on the initiative and instructions of the Head of State, dozens of mosques, religious temples, historical monuments, and shrines have been built or thoroughly restored in the capital and regions of our country.
It should be noted that during the occupation, our mosques were also brutally destroyed, 65 out of 67 mosques were destroyed. The construction of new mosques also occupies an important place within the framework of the extensive construction work currently underway in our liberated territories. The construction of the mosque in the village of Sugovushan also shows that the work carried out in our country to protect national and spiritual values is taking on a consistent character.
