Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski expressed hope that U.S. President Donald Trump, during his conversation with Vladimir Putin, would be able to convince the Kremlin leader to abandon some "absurd demands" regarding Ukraine.
Axar.az reports according to European Pravda, this was stated by the head of Poland’s foreign ministry.
Sikorski reminded that President Trump initially "promised to resolve this conflict in 24 hours."
"We knew it wouldn’t be that easy," he added.
The Polish minister wished Trump good luck in his negotiations with the Russian leader and hoped that the U.S. president would prove to be as good a negotiator as he believes himself to be. Sikorski also expressed hope that Trump would convince Putin to abandon absurd demands, such as wanting to take full control of Ukraine or demilitarize it, as well as plans to conquer additional Ukrainian territories in the future.
"The success of negotiations with Trump will be assessed by the quality of the peace achieved," added Poland's foreign minister.
