The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the UN’s Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities — GlobE Network — has begun.
Axar.az reports Baku is hosting the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the GlobE Network, established under the UN to support anti-corruption efforts by law enforcement agencies.
More than 300 delegates from over 120 government agencies across 92 countries — including 21 prosecutor’s offices, 53 independent anti-corruption bodies, and 16 international organizations — are attending the event in person, while over 60 participants are joining online.
The event also brings together nearly 50 high-ranking officials representing law enforcement agencies from various countries.
The main theme of the plenary session is “The Use of New Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Combating Corruption.”
The agenda includes over 100 presentations across panels, sessions, and side events focused on topics such as the confiscation of assets obtained through corruption, direct recovery of illicit assets, halting suspicious financial transactions, international cooperation in the rapid freezing of bank accounts during criminal proceedings, public awareness in the fight against corruption, and other related subtopics.
As part of the Plenary Meeting, special sessions and side events will also be held at the initiative of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These events will focus on the "Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty" as well as combating environmental offenses in connection with Azerbaijan’s presidency of COP29.
In addition, numerous bilateral meetings and the signing of memorandums of cooperation are planned during the event.
