US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on May 28, Independence Day.

Axar.az reports that this is stated in the congratulatory message posted on the website of the US Department of State.

“On behalf of the American people, I would like to congratulate the people of Azerbaijan on Independence Day. We support the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The United States continues to support efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, which is crucial for the prosperity of the South Caucasus.

We celebrate the agreement reached this year by Azerbaijan and Armenia on the text of the peace treaty. We also recognize Azerbaijan's growing importance as an energy supplier and transportation hub. Our partnership, built over the past 33 years, continues to advance common interests in the areas of security, energy cooperation, and economic growth. We look forward to deepening our cooperation and working together to ensure a peaceful, prosperous future for Azerbaijan and the entire region,” Rubio added.
