On May 29, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi.
Axar.az reports according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on the prospects of Azerbaijan-Qatar cooperation, issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, as well as the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period.
Satisfaction was expressed with the level of cooperation between the two countries, and the importance of utilizing the existing potential to further develop relations was emphasized.
Issues related to cooperation within regional and international organizations—including the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA)—were discussed. The necessity of continuing mutual support and solidarity was highlighted. Cooperation opportunities within the framework of Azerbaijan’s upcoming chairmanship of the OIC Summit next year were also discussed.
The importance of the decisions made during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Azerbaijan last year, was noted. It was emphasized that the achievements in the area of climate finance represent a contribution to global efforts in combating climate change.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the counterpart in detail about the consequences of the former conflict and Armenia’s occupation policy, the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts underway in the liberated territories, the efforts to combat the landmine threat, as well as the progress in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
Speaking about the challenges and obstacles facing the regional peacebuilding process, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov drew attention to the fact that Armenia’s constitution and several legislative acts still contain territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
