Ronaldo’s 2008 Ballon d’Or named best of all time

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr forward from Portugal, has been awarded the B.O.A.T. (Best of All Time) prize, which honors the best edition of the Ballon d'Or in history.

Axar.az reports, citing the award’s official website, that Ronaldo’s 2008 Ballon d’Or victory took first place in the ranking. That year, he finished ahead of Lionel Messi and Liverpool forward Fernando Torres.

The ranking featured Ballon d’Or winners, including Lionel Messi (eight awards), Cristiano Ronaldo (five), Johan Cruyff (three), Michel Platini (three), Marco van Basten (three), Alfredo Di Stefano (two), Franz Beckenbauer (two), Kevin Keegan (two), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (two) and Ronaldo Nazario (two).

The organizers previously explained that the ranking was based not on the total number of Ballon d’Or awards won by each player, but on their outstanding performance during the specific season in which they received the award.

The winner was determined through a global paid online fan vote, with each vote costing €1.
