Lamine Yamal wins third consecutive Kopa Trophy

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has won the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best young player, at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Axar.az reports that the Spanish international has become the first player in football history to win the award three consecutive times.

Last season, Yamal scored 24 goals and provided 18 assists in 45 official appearances for Barcelona. He played a key role in the Catalan club’s La Liga and Spanish Super Cup triumphs.

The young star also won the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Spain’s national team.

Other contenders for the award included Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi, Paris Saint-Germain’s Warren Zaire-Emery, Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl, Manchester City’s Ayoub Bouaddi, Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz and Real Madrid’s Yan Diomande.

It should be noted that the Kopa Trophy is awarded annually to the best footballer under the age of 21.
