Russian strike on Kyiv kills one, injures 10

A Russian missile strike on Kyiv on Monday evening killed one person and injured 10 others, including students at a dormitory.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, that Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said explosions were heard across the city after Ukraine’s Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat from Russia’s Bryansk region. Several missiles were subsequently reported heading towards Kyiv from Chernihiv region.

A strike was reported near a metro station in the Desnianskyi district. In the Dniprovskyi district, a medical facility was damaged, with the blast wave shattering windows in its intensive care unit. Windows were also blown out in two departments of another medical facility in the area. No patients or medical staff were injured at either facility.

A building in a non-residential area of the Dniprovskyi district was also hit. The fatality was reported near a supermarket.

Among the injured were two emergency medical service workers who had arrived at the scene. Their injuries were preliminarily assessed as non-critical.
