Turkiye may block Telegram

Turkish officials have warned of the possibility of blocking the Telegram messenger service due to the sale of drugs, promotion of prostitution, gambling, and distribution of child pornography videos.

Axar.az reports that newspapers published information about these concerning sources in law enforcement agencies.

It was reported that the Technology and Communications Council of Turkiye has sent more than a thousand warnings to the head office of Telegram with the request to close the channels used for illegal activities, but has not yet received a response.

It is noted that there are about 8 million Telegram users in Turkiye, and according to this number, it ranks 10th in the world.
