The British ambassador in Mexico, John Benjamin, was fired after a video of him jokingly pointing a gun at one of the diplomatic mission's employees was posted on social media.

It was reported that the incident occurred in April, during Benjamin's visit to the Durango and Sinaloa states in northern Mexico, known for drug cartels. In the video, the diplomat is seen in a car, picking up an automatic rifle and jokingly pointing it at one of his subordinates.

The UK Foreign Office has announced that they are aware of the incident and have already taken measures. The embassy's advisor, Rachel Brazier, has been appointed as the acting chargé d'affaires for the UK in Mexico.
