Finland plans to resume the use of anti-personnel mines from January 2026.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by the Yle TV channel, citing the country's land forces.

Finland officially notified the UN on July 10, 2025, of its withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention, which bans anti-personnel mines. The denunciation of the agreement will come into force in January next year.

"The land forces will resume the use of anti-personnel mines in the arsenal in January next year," the Ministry of Defense said.

Land forces engineer Riku Mikkonen added that measures will be developed to quickly put the mines into operation, in addition to the existing defense system, from January 2026.
