Shots fired and explosions in Munich, one dead

Since early this morning, police, fire services, special units, and bomb disposal teams have been responding to a major incident in northern Munich.

Axar.az informs according to BILD, several explosions have occurred, and shots were reportedly fired.

A male body has been discovered. Preliminary reports suggest the man may have rigged his parents’ house with explosives, set it on fire, and then taken his own life. At least one other person with gunshot injuries was also found.

The incident is centered on Lerchenauer Strasse. Police have cordoned off the area and advised residents and commuters to avoid it.

A large cloud of smoke is visible from a distance. Police official Thomas Schelshorn told BILD: “There is currently no danger to the public, and there is no connection to Oktoberfest.”
